We guided our client to rebrand their insurance business from scratch beginning with new brand values and a new brand name. The chosen name ‘Luma’ is derived from the word luminosity. Luminosity is the total amount of light (or energy) emitted by an object in a given space. Brightness is universally considered to be positive and is the ideal metaphor for Luma’s mission, representing the health and wellbeing of every Luma member. This brightness is built into the heart of the logo. The L of Luma contains both a graphic starburst and a medical cross — symbolizing Luma as a source of light, health, wellbeing and information.
